CESEL’s Pay-As-You-Go Model is specifically targeted at low-income farmers to finance and manage the irrigation infrastructure that they use in their farming practice. Under our Pay-As-You-Go model, the irrigation infrastructure ownership will be transferred to the farmers after some time when payment has been fully made.  CESEL, through its Irri-Go brand will deploy standalone solar irrigation infrastructure to the farmers that share aggregated farmland and manage the system’s functionalities through cooperative societies formed for the customer-farmers. The benefitting farmers are then charged for the irrigation services on a fixed rate per hectare of irrigated farmland only at the end of every cycle of crop production. The amount chargeable will be agreed with the farmers factoring in some level of subsidy from the upcoming World Bank/REA's DARES programme.
Additionally, AquaCrop supports are provided to farmers to further improve farm production yields which tends to double comparatively. Furthermore, multiple cycles of crop productions in a year will be accomplished by moving away from traditional rainfed cropping. These will ultimately increase farmers’ income from crop productions, stimulate food security and poverty reduction. The environmental gains for adopting clean energy over the traditional fossil fuel powered irrigation pumps cannot be over emphasised. Overall, our solar irrigation solution presents a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to fuel-powered pumps, contributing to preservation of natural resources and mitigating climate change impacts.
